Lesson 2
The lesson I would like to talk about today is the need to control what is and is not allowed to enter your home via the World Wide Web. The responsibility to control content must be implemented by the parent.
How do you do this? There are many products out there that can aid in this area. Do the research and choose a good filtering and monitoring program that will meet your needs. Please do not listen to those who would say “do not censor your Internet” you have a God given responsibility to protect and guide your family.
Do not allow filth in your home, guard yourself and your family from the dangers of the Internet.

The odious sound of children running around the house is gone, the endless questions throughout the day have ceased. Yes it’s back to school time, while the kids are at school now would be a good time to learn the basics of Internet Safety.
This will be the first part of some simple yet practical helps to maintaining a Clean Internet in your household. Please feel free to comment and add some input on the matter.
Lesson 1
Determine the placement of your computer in the house. Talk to family members and decide where you would like to set up your computer. The best place of course would be were the monitor is in clear view of all. If there are multiple computers (such as laptops) select a central location where they can access the Internet from.
Something that goes along with this is putting time restrains on computer usage. The times may vary depending on day and workload they have.

Internet Safety, Parental Control, Protecting Children
Internet Safety seems to be a topic that is left out of most family circles. The fact is the Internet is much more of a threat to your family then just about any other danger that is out there today.
Parents need to be proactive when it comes to Internet Safety. The key is communicate do not be like the proverbial ostrich with his head in the sand. Keep your eyes open to your kid’s activity on the computer, monitor their usage and filter content that is harmful to them.
Talk and then lead by example; set guidelines for usage of the Internet surfing and keep them. Do not turn a blind eye to your family’s usage of the Internet. Get informed and stay on top of the Internet issue.
Family, Internet Safety
Wherever you stand on the health care issue, whether you believe the government wants to kill Grandma or not, or the health care reform proposed will greatly help our country. The fact is we are in danger of a greater Health Care issue.
The danger I am talking about is neither the Swine Flu nor the threat of a terrorist attack. The danger I am referring to is the one that is already in the majority of homes in the United States.
The Internet
Now before you dismiss me as a nut listen up the Internet if allowed can destroy you, your family, and your mind and can cause a great heartache in your life. Think about this: would you allow a known sexually predator in your house? Yet a child or adult if not careful could open a door way into your home via the Internet. Would you allow a vile exploitation of men, women and children to be posted on your walls? Yet an unfiltered unmonitored Internet allows that and much more.
More important than the debate on Health care reform is the issue of what are you doing to protect your family from the dangers of the internet. Let me be blunt, I believe you are putting your family at great risk if you do not monitor, filter and teach them the possible dangers of the internet.
My daughter just turned sweet sixteen (not sure about the sweet) she also just received her learners permit to drive. A car is a wonderful and useful object in the day we live in. A car can also be a dangerous tool if not trained on the proper procedure of operating it. The Internet is a place of wonder a place of excitement and yes a place of danger if those who operate it are not trained. When my daughter jumped in the driver seat for the first time the first instruction I gave her was PUT YOUR SEAT BELT ON why? I want her to be protected. We need protection when we are on the World Wide Web also.
Keep you and your family healthy long after the Health Care debate is over. Do your home work and find the best protection for your needs.
Family, Internet Security, Protecting Children
Today’s kids are growing up with much more technology then those of years past. Children today have the ability to entertain themselves on the World Wide Web with a simple click of a mouse. The trend for the day seems to be Videos, social networking sites, video games and PORN. A recent survey shows a growing trend of kids searching the Internet for Adult sites.
With sites such as You Tube kids were most likely to use key words such as “sex” “porn” and other disturbing key words.
Parents need to get involved with their kids usage of the Internet. This is an issue that will not go away by simple ignoring it.
Educate yourself and your family on the possible dangers of the Internet. Monitor and install parental controls on your computer.
Internet Safety, Parental Control
Back to school is upon us, kids from all over will soon be entering the doors that hopefully lead to learning. One of the keys to a good education is discipline in the classroom. You cannot teach a class when kids are talking, text messaging or sleeping in class. The schools of today seem to teach more on Internet usage then on the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. We must realise as parents it is our responsibility to educate our kids the educators can and should assist use, but it is our responsibility.
The Internet is a topic that must be addressed. We must educate ourselves on the trends of the day so we know how to direct our children. The use of the Internet can and should be a safe adventure. One of the main ways to make it so is through discipline.
Parents need to set guideline’s to the use of the Internet. Do not allow your kids to stare blank eyed at the computer screen for hours upon hours. You must monitor and filter the content that is being accessed via the Internet.
You must be a parent to your children not a friend, lay the law down and then enforce it. You must set the stage by engaging in the same rules you set forth for safe Internet usage.

Stop Look Listen
We all recognize this from learning what to do at a railroad crossing yet over 12,000 train vehicle accidents occurred last year with over 700 deaths. What does this tell you?
Some folks do not heed to these simple rules
Lives could be saved, families spared the grief of losing a loved one and countless other situations that arise from such a tragic happening. Please allow me to switch tracks now, as we train and prepare our children as they go down the rail way of life we must instruct them in the three words mentioned above regarding the dangers of the internet.
Stop
Do not at any time post personal information on the Internet; remember nothing is personal once you post it on the Internet.
Do not engage in on-line chatting with strangers, they could claim to be an innocent little 14 year old school girl, and in reality they could be a 40 year old pervert.
Do not post pictures of yourself.
Look
Parents Know what your kids are looking at on the Internet.
Parents check up on what they are doing online. (There are lots of good programs that can monitor and filter the Internet.)
Listen
Listen and Talk to your family about Internet safety.
Remember the stat from above over 700 lives lost to train car accidents, the number of family’s destroyed by internet predictors and the filth that is pumped in our children’s minds is to numerous to fathom.
Internet Safety, Monitoring Software, Protecting Children
What is the value of your child? How much would you be willing to spend to protect him or her.? You are probably saying what kind of questions are those? The answers are simple my child is priceless, and I would be willing to spent every dime and then some to protect them.
I like you could not and would not put a price tag on my children’s safety. I am about to tell you how you can not only protect your children now but for years to come for under $5.00 a month.
The protection I am talking about is protecting your child from the dangers of the Internet. Internet safety is an area where a vast numbers of good parents are missing the boat. As parents we protect our kids from all sorts of dangers and inappropriate situations, yet we fall short many times in the area of Internet safety. The things that enter the minds of our children do make a lasting impression why would you them allow the filth in your home via the Internet.
The answer, just as an oil filter filters out the crud that might enter your engines components and damage them. A good Internet filter will filter out the garbage that can and will destroy your child and your home. My question dear parent is why would you not filter and monitor your computer? If you have any sense at you would realize the importance of Internet safety.
After reading the above statement no doubt you said there is no price tag great enough for protecting my family. Is it worth $5.00 a month? Then do the research and install an Internet filter and monitoring software and talk to your family about the dangers of the Internet.
“The best thing to spend on your children is your time.”
Internet Safety
The Internet is a wonderful tool that children have the ability to access today at the click of a mouse. The Internet is also a place of danger that parents need to warn and protect their kids from. Parents need to engage their children in conversation and warn them of the dangers that lurk on the World Wide Web.
Conversation is great yet Internet goes well beyond mere words. The three main keys are, educate, monitor and filter the Internet.
Safety tips
Educate - Talk to your family and teach them what to do and what not to do online.
Monitor – Keep computers in a central location where you always have full view of the screen.
Filter—–Install an Internet filter that will protect your household from the filth on the Internet.
Internet Safety

you be the judge
WASHINGTON, July 28, 2009 – Parents and educators need to educate children about online safety issues, rather than censoring content, a panel of think tanks, industry officials, and online safety experts agreed on Monday.
Are you not glad that there is a panel of experts out there that know how we should and should not raise our kids? I’m sorry but some people get so smart that they are stupid. Monitoring and yes filtering the Internet is not censoring, but being a responsible parent.
Parents of course need to educate but it needs to be coupled with monitoring and some type of Internet filter or parental controls. Kids are very smart today they need parents that are on top of the issues they are dealing with on the Internet. Please don’t fall into the trap of giving your child full access to the Internet.
We need to protect our families from the dangers of the Internet. There is a way to safely surf the Internet if you want to call the area of filtering censorship you go right ahead.
But as for me and my house we will filter, monitor and educate our children in regards to the Internet.
